Treat Knee Bursitis

Bursitis causes inflammation in your knee joints. Inflammation appears in your bursa. Your mobility in the knee will be limited, until you treat knee bursitis. Knee pain can be felt in the knee cap. Bursa is a fluid sac. Too much fluid can be filled in the sac when its inflamed. Each knee has 11 bursae. Knee bursitis is not as severe as knee joint arthritis. Knee bursitis is usually caused from injury to the knee, or doing a lot of kneeling. Sometimes just a knee brace and rest of the joints can help provide knee bursitis treatment. Bursitis symptoms are sore knee, mild inflammation, and pressure on the knee joint. Obesity might cause knee bursitis.

Knee pain can be treated with home remedies, usually. Knee bursitis usually doesn't require medical treatment. Severe and chronic cases of knee bursitis can lead to surgery. Knee bursitis can be common in those who participate in sports like running, wrestling, basketball, and football. If knee bursitis becomes infected, its called septic knee bursitis. It's hard to tell the difference between septic bursitis, and just knee bursitis. Antibiotics will be needed to treat septic bursitis. If symptoms don't improve within a week or two, you should see a doctor.

Instructions

1. Wear a knee brace, or knee pad. You'll want to reduce swelling, and stabilize the joint. A knee pad will limit the wear and tear on the knee as well. Your doctor might recommend a good knee brace to wear. If you run, or jog, you should wear a knee brace when involved in any sport, or working out.

2. Elevate the knee while sleeping. A good sleep position will help minimize knee pain. Sleeping with a knee injury can cause stiffness. So you'll want to elevate the knee while sleeping. Sleep on your backside, and apply a pillow or cushion under the knee with bursitis.

3. Use ice packs to reduce the swell and inflammation. Keep ice packs applied to the knee for 20-30 minutes daily. Ice packs will help heal the bursa, and reduce any pain symptoms. Ice should be applied right away, after any activity.

4. Apply chamomile oil to the knee. Chamomile oil has anti-inflammatory properties, and can be used to treat joint pain. Dilute chamomile oil, apply a just a few drops to the knee with bursitis. Chamomile should soak through the skin's tissue and help reduce symptoms.

5. Take turmeric as a pain medication. Check with your doctor if you're taking any pain meds. Turmeric can be a natural antibiotic and reduce inflammation. Turmeric is one of the most effective home remedies when treating joint pain. Turmeric can be taken as a supplement. Take two capsules daily, preferably with a meal.
