Get Your W2 Forms Online For Free

Free online W-2 access is available to workers of employers who subscribe to certain payroll services.

Online W-2 forms aren't available for everyone -- your employer must offer this service or use a third-party payroll processing company that provides this online service. As technology advances, employers increasingly are using electronic services to process, print and store payroll information. Thousands of nationwide retailers, restaurants and professional companies already offer online W-2 data, and many small employers are making the switch too.

Instructions

1. Check for your employer on the W-2express.com website. If your employer uses TALX to process payroll, it should be listed in the W-2 eXpress database. Many national retailers use this service. If your company is listed, you'll need your Social Security number and a Personal Identification Number to log on. Ask your employer for details if you need assistance.

2. Ask your employer if the business subscribes to online W-2 access from ADP. If your paycheck has an ADP logo on it, you may be able to get your W-2 online free. If your company subscribes to online ADP services, your employer can give you a pass code and website where you can access your W-2 form. You'll need to register an account on the website and create a login ID and password before you can print your W-2.

3. Ask your employer if he uses ViewMyPaycheck. This is a free service available to businesses that use QuickBooks payroll services. Many small business owners use QuickBooks to process payroll, but there may not be a way to tell if QuickBooks is used based on your paycheck's appearance. If your employer processes payroll through this system, he can send your information securely to the ViewMyPaycheck site where you can retrieve the information.
