Kenmore Elite Dryer: No Heat Fix

Hi Everyone, I spent over 5 hours working on and researching my no heat problem with my Kenmore Dryer model # 101.63942101 and have just discovered what the problem is. I thought I'd post it to help others in the future. I didn't see this info in this forum, so here it is: If you have no heat, first check the relays! I checked the element continuity, resistance, the thermistor resistance, the exhaust thermal fuse, the high-limit thermostat, and the heating element thrmal fuse: all good. Now I did find on this forum advice to check the heater relay, but NOT test it. I saw that there are TWO exact identical relays in the console, so I had the idea to just switch them! When I did: BAM, I had a beautiful glowing-red element! The relays are in the console. You simply pull the plastic end caps off (just pull em off - no screws). Then look for the one screw (facing down-ward on each end) that holds the console in and remove it (for both sides) and tilt it towards the front and you'll have total access to all the wires in there. The relays will have a part number of: T9AP1D52-48-03. I tell you that because if you oder it from an appliance parts store, you'll pay $35 or more. But if you look up that part number in a search engine, you'll find it for about $4. I got mine here for $3: http://www.newark.com/jsp/search/pro...sp?SKU=66F6698 The part number may drop the 03 at the end but they are identical in function; the 03 simply designates a certain company it was manufactured for according to Tyco tech support (the real maker of the relay). So, since the test of switching the two relays in the console only takes 5-10 minutes, I say try that first! I've disovered that this is a common problem for these dryers. I hope I've helped! -Tony
