Pwh2500 power washer help

PWH2500 Power washer help

I just bought the gas PWH2500 Power washer and having a small problem. The flywheel is locked so I can't pull the cord and start the engine. I've read the instructions, but the diagrams might as well be written in stone tablets. I can't find the flywheel brake lever and set it so I can pull the chord and start the engine. I feel rather silly, but I've been looking and can't find it. Can anyone help and tell me where this flywheel brake lever is? Thanks, -D Please disregard...I got it started. Thanks, -D- As a follow-up question, is there any issues to watch out for that will cause the engine to overheat or issues that can damage the engine. I'm using the manul choke/fixed throttle type power washer. Orginally when I started the engine, and began using the the washer, the engine just died...seemed flooded. Had to wait about an hour before it started again? Not sure what caused that? A little smoke came out of the exhaust, but nothing major. The water does need to be turned on before starting, is that correct? From the instructions, there doesn't appear to be anything that I did incorrectly. I just wanted to double check to make sure there wasn't something I was unaware of that would damage the engine. Thanks for any input. -D- -Dman100-, One thing for sure would be trouble is if you failed to add oil to the pump or engine. They often are shipped dry. Hi Greg, Thanks for replying to my post. Yep, I put oil in first thing. I can't figure out why it died on me when I started spraying? -D- You can damage the pump if you don't pull the trigger around once a minute. It can be hard to start a pressure washer if you don't have the trigger on the gun pulled, and the more you try the harder it gets, it may finally become impossible. I'm having the same issues with the PWH2500. Took the first one back to Sam's club, thinking it was locked up - even after releasing the pressure on it. Second PW runs about 30 seconds (spraying the whole time) and it quickly shuts down. Plenty of oil in it, its a maintenance free pump (manual says), plenty of water pressure supplied, etc. Honda engine on it, starts right up. Makes no sense at all why it doesn't work. Who makes that sucker. Is it pmh or pwh PWH2500 Pressure Wave - Sold as Devilbiss Air Power Company, Sam's club is where I got mine. Has a GCV160 Honda enine on it - 5.5hp (I think). having issues with new PWH2500 washer. Hooked hose up and let run for 2 minutes to get air out. Right when I start engine, it will not spray. If I start engine with handle pressed it will spray until I release handle and try to re-engage. Any ideas?? Almost like there is air coming into the thing and locking up everything. When you start the engine you may have to play with thw choke ---make sure the choke is where it is supposed to be after the engine starts, and the throttle is fully on. Will the machine keep running if you don't put a tip in it or use the black one[not drawing chemical]. You shouldn't have to but let the engine warm up a little with the trigger pulled and no tip. Make sure you are getting adequate water to the pump. This should not be a problem. My PWH2500 is new and has been run about 1hr. I have just experienced the 'gun lockup' problem. The trigger mechanism is plastic and gives way before releasing the valve in the gun. If you start and run with the gun spraying it works fine, but once you release the trigger it won't open again. After shutting down, removing water hose and giving it time to bleed pressure from the pressure hose it will work again. Do you think there is a way to get the vendor to supply a more substantial (not plastic) gun? Any other suggestions? What about capping the soap intake nozzle so the pump does not draw air? I'll keep monitoring the forum hoping someone will provide some brilliant, simple, CHEAP! insight. Originally Posted by JBHerndon My PWH2500 is new and has been run about 1hr. I just purchased this pressure washer as well from Sams and like you It seems to run fine until you release the trigger. It starts fine to start with (trigger engaged) and you can spray away. But when you let go the trigger it won't start spraying again as if it has no water to it (It does). The hose between the engine and the spray nozzle is almost seezed feeling as you can not undo the hose from the engine without a cresent wrench. I hate to think I would have to look into a substitute hose and spray wand so I don't have to let the spraywand decompress itself everytime I called and call the folks that make the pistol grip for the pressure washer and finally understood the answering machine. Evidently we are not the only ones having problems and they have a web address that you can put the model number and serial numbers in so hopefully there is replacement to be mailed. Go here and fill out. http://www.devap.com/registration/index.asp I stopped by Sam's today they are aware of the defect. The store mgr said the mfr is shipping replacement parts, but it maybe quicker if we go thru Devilbiss ourselves. In Sam's promo lit, they list Quick Connect Spray Wand, but mine had threaded fittings @ both ends. After chewing up the soft plastic w/ Channelocks, trying to remove the pressurized hose, I can see the value of quick connect vs threaded fittings. In fact, Devilbiss makes the same model for Porter-Cable, PCV2500, sold by Tyler Tool, which has quick connect hose fittings the hose connects @ the back of the gun vs wedged up against the handle, as our Sam's model does. http://store.yahoo.com/tylertool/popc25psiprw.html or http://store1.yimg.com/I/tylertool_1846_105551423 Fortunately I haven't had the wand/trigger issue but can someone tell me the best way to use the soap chemical hose/strainer? Do I need a special bottle? Do I just drop the thing into the gallon jug of concentrate and drag it around? Any help appreciated. I was ready to buy this unit until I read the forum and the problems encountered. Has the company provided a solution? I wonder if the most recent units fix the problem. Could someone please respond. Thank you. yes, the company is replacing the sprayer wands free of charge. I had used my unit for about 20-25 hrs before i encountered prob's with the wand, it is easy to use and a does a good job.I am awaiting my replacement, should arrive later this week via UPS and will update with result. hope this helps in your decision recieved my replacement wand 8-27, works fine. after the first replacement wand was lost in UPS LAND, called manufacter and they sent another overnite, arrive when said it would. FYI if you need to replace a sprayer wand at any time, you can do so at NORTHERN TOOLS. they have many styles to choose from and prices start around $20. bigal I was wondering if there is a current web site to go to for the wand problem, or do I hav e to go to Sams club to get it taken care of? It is the Pressure wave PWH 2500 pressure washer
