Secure Lawn Furniture

Lawn furniture can be stolen in minutes if you are not careful.

Lawn furniture is sometimes an expensive addition to your porch, deck or patio. While some people prefer to use cheap and low-maintenance plastic furniture for their outdoor usage, others prefer more durable and expensive wooden or metal models. One risk of more pricey lawn furniture is that it could become a target for theft. Securing lawn furniture should be a priority for anyone who made any kind of investment in the furniture they keep outside.

Instructions

1. Lock the furniture in the garage or in a storage shed if possible anytime it is not being used for any length of time. The harder it is to get to when it is not in use, the more secure it will be.

2. Group the furniture together and wrap a steel cable through each of the pieces before locking the cable together with a padlock. This makes it harder to steal the furniture since you'd have to either cut the cable first or move all the furniture at one time, which is difficult.

3. Secure an alarm to the furniture once it's locked up. There are alarms designed for smaller items that will set off a loud noise if the furniture is moved or tampered with.

4. Keep the furniture well-lit at night if it is still left outside. Security lighting discourages thieves from attempting to steal the furniture since it increases the odds of them being seen and caught. There are several types of security lighting with some using motion sensors that activate when motion is detected while others turn on when nighttime arrives. Either one will help protect your furniture.

5. Get a guard dog if you are in position to properly care for one. Even a small dog will often bark when it hears strange noises and this will notify you that someone is on your property. German Shepherds and Dobermans are frequently used for guarding purposes.
