Ge Triton Xl Dishwasher Upper Spray Arm Will Not Rotate

The Triton XL dishwasher by GE is no longer manufactured by the company but is still available in some retail stores and online. This dishwasher includes a large capacity tub, a clean sensor that monitors each cycle for soil levels, adjustable racks and tines, a quiet motor and three direct feed wash arms. If the upper spray arm does not rotate, some troubleshooting efforts may be sufficient to return the wash arm to proper function.

Improper Loading

Do not overload the dishwasher as too many objects can keep the upper spray arm from turning properly. Make sure there is nothing hanging down from the top rack because this can also block the spray arm rotation and prevent the arm from functioning properly. Set larger items in the lower rack and secure items with long handles lengthwise in the top rack or set them in the bottom rack so that the upper arm can rotate freely.

Stuck Wash Tower

A GE dishwasher raises the power tower during the wash cycle, which rotates the spray arm. If the tower gets stuck, the spray arm cannot rotate. Manually move the tower so that it can move or tap it with your hand to lower it if it is stuck in position.

Foreign Objects

Look in the spray arm for objects that may have fallen into the top of the spray arm and are preventing it from rotating. It may be necessary to remove the spray arm from the dishwasher to inspect it, find the problem and clean away the debris or object as needed.

Retainer Clips

There is a set of retaining clips that hold the spray arm in place. If the clips on the upper spray arm break, they cannot be replaced, and the entire spray arm assembly will need to be replaced. Contact GE for assistance. If the above troubleshooting steps do not work and the upper spray arm is still not rotating, contact GE for further assistance.
