Suspended phones can be suspended for a few reasons. One possible reason is that you chose to have it suspended in the past. If you have purchased the phone secondhand, it may have been suspended by the previous owner.
Older analog phones, such as car phones, can no longer be activated in the U.S., but phones that haven't been completely grandfathered out by cellphone companies can be reactivated if the proper information is provided.
Instructions
1. Turn on the phone.
2. Dial 0 and press send. Doing this will call the carrier that currently hold's your phone's contract. If you are attempting to activate a phone owned by a company that has been bought-out, the phone will then call the operator of the company that purchased it.
3. Tell the operator that you wish to activate the phone that you are calling from. The operator will pull up the information on the phone, which has been transmitted to the provider.
4. Answer the operator's security questions. The operator will ask you the name and address on the account. If you are the one who suspended the phone, you should have this information. If the phone was not yours and you do not have the information requested, you will not be able to activate the phone.
The operator will tell you if your phone can be activated, and if so, do so. In some cases, you will have to go into your provider's store to complete the activation process.
