About Krispy Kreme Doughnuts
Widely recognized by a red window light, Krispy Kreme lets patrons know a hot batch of doughnuts is coming straight out of the oven. The trademark sign is green with a white background and red lettering. Sold all over the United States, Canada, Mexico, Asia, Australia and Europe, Krispy Kreme is one of the most popular doughnut chains in the world.
History
The history of the Krispy Kreme dates back to 1937, in North Carolina, when Vernon Rudolph developed the first known Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut. From there, Rudolph began selling the doughnuts to local grocery stores and markets. They were an instant hit. Because Vermon constantly had people stopping by asking for more doughnuts when they sold out from stores---he decided to open his own doughnut stand to keep up with demand. Variations on the original doughnut were soon developed, but the original glazed is still the most popular. Most Krispy Kreme doughnut stands and coffee shops are owned by franchises. Some are sold to major grocery store chains around the world---allowing easy access to the sweet treat no matter where you live.
Doughnuts
In addition to its original glazed doughnut, Krispy Kreme offers several other fresh varieties, including glazed cinnamon, raspberry filled, chocolate iced glazed, chocolate with sprinkles, chocolate cream filled, jelly filled, lemon filled, glazed cruller, cinnamon and sugar filled and traditional cake. Doughnuts are made from scratch, even at the kiosks and convenience stores. They are deep fried and then drizzled with frosting, sugar or nuts, giving them a distinct light and airy taste.
Doughnut Holes
Doughnut holes are a popular treat among many who find their way to Krispy Kreme stands. These doughnuts are available in four different glazed flavors---original, chocolate cake, blueberry and plain cake. They come in a small travel box sold in 6, 12 or 24 pack varieties.
Coffee
The signature coffee at Krispy Kreme is made from 100% pure Arabica coffee beans. Smooth, bold and robust flavors are available in both caffeinated and decaffeinated varieties. For those who love specialty coffee drinks, Krispy Kreme has a tasty selection. The Kaffe Kreme, Mocha, Cappuccino and Latte are all blended with heavy cream, coffee, chocolate, espresso and steamed milk.
Eateries
In the coffee shop, all of the doughnuts are put on display, making it even harder to choose one. In gas stations or kiosks, the doughnut cabinet may be self serve. Most Krispy Kreme coffee shops have drive through's that save time for hungry customers during the early morning rush.
