Make Venison Burger

Venison is another name for the meat of a deer. Butchered into as many different cuts as a hog or cow, deer is enjoyed by many people around the world. Making burgers is one way to cook this wild animal. Although deer meat is leaner and healthier than beef or pork, if cooked carefully, you may find these burgers to be one of the most delicious meals you have ever served your family.

Instructions

1. Place five slices of bacon in a skillet, and cook over medium-high heat. Layer two paper towels on a plate.

2. Cook the bacon strips until they are browned but not crispy. Remove them from the skillet, and set them on the paper towels to drain excess grease. Because venison is a bit dry, the bacon strips will give the meat some extra fat.

3. Tear the bacon into small pieces once it is cool enough to handle, and add it to 1 lb. ground venison in a bowl.

4. Add 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp. black pepper and 1/2 tsp. salt to the venison. Mix the meat mixture together thoroughly with your hands or a spoon.

5. Shape the meat into 1-inch-thick patties. Place two patties in the same skillet with the bacon grease. You can also use vegetable oil instead of bacon grease to help keep the burgers from drying out.

6. Fry the venison for four to five minutes on each side before taking it out of the pan. Overcooking will dry out this meat. Cook as many more patties as you want in the same manner.

7. Slice up the tomato, onion and lettuce. Place the burgers on buns with the sliced toppings, and add your favorite condiments. Serve with a pickle on the side along with some chips or other side dishes.
