Make Strawberry Pie For A Diabetic

Desserts are not always available in the sugar-free options that a diabetic should eat. Often, restaurants have the old standby of sugar-free apple pie, but maybe the diabetic in your life would like something different and more refreshing. Here is a recipe for a strawberry pie that is sugar-free but sure to please anyone, diabetic or not.

Instructions

1. Purchase a regular pie shell in pan, which is usually found in the frozen section of a grocery store.

2. Shop for fresh strawberries, sugar-free strawberry gelatin and a regular-sized tub of sugar-free whipped topping from the frozen section. The gelatin is usually found in the fruit section or with the other gelatin mixes in a grocery store's baking section.

3. Poke fork holes into the pie shell and bake as directed for a fruit-filling pie.

4. Thaw the whipped topping while preparing the strawberry filling.

5. Remove the green stems from the strawberries, wash and cut into smaller pieces.

6. Mix the sugar-free gelatin, the cut strawberries and 5 sugar substitute packages into a bowl. Pour the mixture into the cooled pie shell.

7. Mix 3 to 5 packets of sugar substitute into the thawed whipped topping to taste. Spoon the topping onto the pie or store in the refrigerator until time to serve.
