If you are giving a gift of champagne, you may wish to add a little personality to your gift by decorating the bottle. While you are probably familiar with the common top hat and veil decorations, often placed on champagne bottles at weddings and wedding showers, you may be less certain on decorate a champagne bottle that is not intended to celebrate one of these occasions. Fortunately, you can quickly and easily decorate a champagne bottle for any occasion using items that are likely already in your arts and crafts closet.
Instructions
1. Cut several long lengths of ribbon. These will be tied around the neck of the champagne bottle, so they should be at least 1 foot in length to allow for plenty of tail. You can slant or notch the ends of the ribbon. If you have more than one color, cut at least one length of each color. You need at least two lengths.
2. Tie the ribbon in a bow around the neck of the champagne bottle. You should use all the lengths of ribbon together; this will create a full, fluffy bow. Tie it tightly and double-knot the bow once the "ears" of the bow are the size that you desire; this will hold everything in place.
3. Push the silk flowers behind the ribbon. They should stick out from behind the back of the bow. Generally they should be on top, but some people prefer them to point down. This is up to you. If the stems are long and obvious below the bow, then cut them off so that only about 1 inch of stem shows.
4. Tie on the keychain charm. You can leave it on the keychain if you want the recipient to be able to use the keychain and remember the event. If not, just work the charm off the keychain. Using two of the tails of the bow (one from each side), knot the charm firmly underneath the bow. The tails will hang down as before on either side of the charm.
5. Thread one or more beads onto the end of each ribbon tail. Once the beads are on the ribbon, you can tie a knot at the bottom to hold them in place. These will add sparkle to your bottle and also hold the ribbon tails down. Now, you are ready to give your beautifully decorated champagne bottle to the lucky recipient.
