Make Tortilla Crisps

Homemade tortilla crisps are delicious and hearty when paired with a great dip.

Tortilla chips, also known as tortilla crisps, are crunchy snacks that can be eaten with a variety of dipping sauces including salsa, guacamole or beans. While there are many different brands of tortilla crisps available for purchase, making them yourself is much simpler than it sounds and can add a quality touch to any snack or meal. Homemade tortilla crisps can be baked using a very simple method that takes little time and even less effort.

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Use kitchen shears to cut a flour or corn tortilla into four equal wedges and lay them on a baking sheet that has been coated with olive oil cooking spray. Cut as many as you need to get the amount of tortilla crisps that you want. The wedges should be placed in a single layer on the baking sheet to avoid uneven cooking.

3. Shake a can of olive oil cooking spray well before misting a light, even coating over the tortilla pieces. Sprinkle the tortilla pieces with salt and place the baking sheet in the oven.

4. Bake the tortillas for 5 minutes or until they are crispy. Make sure to keep a close eye on them to avoid burning. Allow the crisps to cool for 5 more minutes before serving.
