Make A Delicious Fried Dumpling Sauce

This dumpling sauce can complement other types of dumplings, such as boiled dumplings.

Fried dumplings are a popular dish in both Chinese and Japanese cuisines. While fried dumplings can be enjoyed on their own, most chefs prepare them with a dipping sauce. The purpose of the dipping sauce is to add a layer of both bitterness and savory flavor over the natural salty flavor of the pork used in fried dumplings. The dipping sauce also softens the crispy texture of the fried dough used to wrap the pork. These fried dipping sauces are minimalist in nature, and require no special expertise.

Instructions

1. Dice the dry ingredients separately. Chop the green onion and garlic into tiny pieces. In general, the smaller the better. The flavor of the garlic will blend throughout the sauce, and will be stronger when you add more. The green onion can be thought of as a garnish that adds a softness to the sauce. Based on your preference, you can add more or less of either ingredient.

2. Pour the sesame oil and garlic into the mixing bowl.

3. Let the garlic's flavor blend into the sesame oil. Stir the garlic around in the mixing bowl. Place the mixing bowl into the refrigerator for around 20 minutes.

4. Mix the remaining wet ingredients and the green onion into the mixing bowl. Remove the mixing bowl from the fridge. Add the soy sauce, rice vinegar and chili sauce. Stir together. You can serve immediately or cover and seal the sauce in the fridge. This recipe makes about 4 cups of sauce.
