Fudge Sauce Gifts

Fudge sauce turns ice cream into a gourmet treat.

Turn an afternoon of cooking into fudge sauce gifts for friends and family. Whip up a batch of your favorite sauce and pair it with ice cream, cake or fruit. Package the jar so it looks like it came from an expensive chocolate shop. Add accessories, such as dessert plates or ice cream dishes. This is one gift that won't ever be returned.

Flavors of Fudge

Add different flavors to give a variety of sauces, not just one. Try adding instant coffee for mocha fudge, hazelnut syrup to another batch and mint extract to a third batch. Package the fudge sauce in jars with labels that have photos of the key ingredient. Use a free online photo library that allows you to use the photos with permission.

Ice Cream

Create a do-it-yourself ice cream parlor gift with fudge sauce. Pair the sauce with sundae dishes, long spoons and an assortment of other toppings, such as caramel, pineapple, nuts or sprinkles. Include a gift certificate to an ice cream shop or a grocery store that sells hand-dipped ice cream or gelato.

Cake

Cake topped with fudge sauce is a delectable delight, no matter what the flavor of the cake. Shop flea markets and garage sales for inexpensive flowered dessert plates. They don't have to match as long as they're all in the same color palette. Package the gift with a cake stand, a gift certificate to buy the cake, gourmet cake mixes or, if you will be delivering the gift within a day or so, include the cake as part of the gift.

Fruits

Fudge-dipped fresh fruits are deliciously decadent and healthy, all at the same time. Package an assortment of fruit that will stay firm while the gift is in transit. Apples, pears, pineapples and slightly under ripe bananas are good choices. If the gift will be delivered the same day, include strawberries and peaches. Dried apricots, mangoes and pineapple slices work too. Include a cutting board and a knife to slice the fruit.

Packaging

How a gift is packaged influences the perception of the gift. Gourmet food companies learned this long ago. You could tie a bow around the jar of fudge sauce and call it quits or you could take a note from food gift companies and put the jar in a small basket on top of shredded excelsior and wrap it with clear cellophane.
