Make Jamaican Food

Making Jamaican foods allows you to take a trip to the islands without ever leaving your own home. When you make Jamaican food, it is a good idea to make the entire meal an authentic Jamaican meal, including Jamaican side dishes and drinks.

Instructions

1. Decide on a menu for your Jamaican meal. Jerk chicken, stew peas and curried goat are authentic Jamaican entrees. Bammy and festival are some side dishes. Beer and coconut milk are drink possibilities. Gizzada is a popular dessert.

2. Find the recipes for your menu. See the Resources section for some suggestions. You can also go to your local library or book store to find Jamaican cookbooks.

3. Gather your ingredients. Some of the popular ingredients for Jamaican food are curry, vanilla, turmeric, cassia, nutmeg, garlic and ginger. Make sure that you have all of the ingredients before you begin cooking.

4. Follow the recipe. When you make a Jamaican recipe for the first time, follow the recipe exactly as it is written so that you can make it as authentic as possible. You can always make the recipe again and change some things about it if you think it needs to be altered.

5. Serve the meal in the suggested manner. If the meal is meant to be served with a certain side dish, make that side dish. Foods meant to be served cold should be served cold and hot foods should be served hot.
