Make Cupcakes Stand Out

A cupcake is a perfect, sweet snack. Cupcakes are portable, you do not need silverware to eat them and the serving size is just enough to satisfy a sweet tooth without going overboard. The typical cupcake consists of a paper liner, cake, icing and sprinkles. Follow these steps below to make cupcakes that stand out on a party table.

Instructions

1. Surprise children at a birthday party by baking cupcakes in flat bottom ice cream cones. Fill cones half full with cake batter and bake according to directions. The cake will rise to the top of the cone and then you can use icing to make it look like ice cream on top of a cone. These are no-drip ice cream cones that will make your cupcakes stand out at a party.

2. Use flowers of all different mediums to make your cupcakes stand out. Find edible, organic, fresh flowers to decorate the tops of your cupcakes. Make realistic looking flowers from gum paste or cut flowers out of rolled fondant and attach to the top of the cupcake to give a different look. Another type of flower is a small silk flower to give a pretty addition to the cupcake.

3. Bake cupcakes in a shaped pan. Individual star, heart and other shaped pans are available at most craft stores, such as Michael's, that sell cake decorating supplies.

4. Make it your mission in cupcake baking to not use ordinary cupcake liners. Websites like "CakeChannel" will direct you to a variety of different products and other supplies you can use to make your cupcakes stand out.

5. Build a tiered display of beautiful cupcakes to replace a traditional wedding cake. The easiest way to do this is to stack cake plates one on top of the other. Take it a step further and have two towers of cupcakes-one made of white for the bride and the other consisting of chocolate for the groom. This idea will really make your cupcakes stand out.
