Freeze Honey Butter

Mix butter with honey and spread on French bread.

Make your own homemade honey butter by combining one part honey to two parts softened butter. This sweet, buttery flavor gives food a distinct taste when used on mashed potatoes, corn on the cob or breakfast items like waffles or pancakes. Quickly made at home, consider making this concoction in bulk and designing it into decorative flat shapes for a dinner party or festive occasion. There are several methods to freeze honey butter until needed for use.

Instructions

1. Mix the butter and honey. Spoon the mixture into a pint-sized canning jar. Even out the top. Place the lid on top of the jar and screw the ring around it. Finish with the rest of the butter. Stick a label on the jar with the date and write "honey butter" on the top of the label.

2. Put a sheet of parchment paper on the cookie sheet. Spread the butter into an even, thick layer. Chill it in the freezer. Select your cookie cutter shapes. Once the butter is set, not frozen, insert the cookie cutters into the butter. Set the cut shapes into a freezer-safe container lined with parchment paper with layers in between the butter. Return to the freezer until needed.

3. Roll out the butter on a cookie sheet and put it in the freezer. Remove the butter from freezer once chilled. Slice a straight, 1-inch wide horizontal line through the butter. Cut 1-inch straight lines vertically though the butter. Place the pats between parchment paper in a freezer container.

4. Scoop butter from the bowl onto a large parchment paper. Roll the paper like a jelly roll and place into an airtight freezer container. Allow it to freeze. Cut it into strips once removed from the freezer. Use a wet knife if butter is difficult to slice.

5. Scoop butter into a round container. Place it in the freezer.
