Smoked salmon dip may not hold up well to freezing.
Freezing a smoked fish dip can be a viable method of storing the dip for later use, but the success will depend on the dip ingredients. Typically, smoked fish dips are made with mayonnaise, sour cream or cream cheese. In general, none of these products holds up well to freezing. If you decide to freeze them, it is best to only store them that way for short periods.
Instructions
1. Fill the freezer-safe container with the smoked fish dip to within 1/2 inch of the top of the container. Cover the top of the container with plastic wrap and press the wrap firmly down on the top of the smoked fish dip. Attach the cover to the freezer-safe container.
2. Place the container in the freezer. When freezing dips, it is recommended to only keep them frozen for periods of less than a month. The longer the dip is frozen, the more likely it is to degrade in quality when it is eventually thawed out.
3. Remove the container from the freezer and place the container in the refrigerator. Allow the smoked fish dip to remain in the refrigerator until it is fully thawed. Prior to serving the smoked fish dip, it should be thoroughly stirred to mix all the ingredients and address any separation that may have occurred.
