Make Low Country Boil

Low country boil is a traditional Southern recipe that stems from the southern regions of South Carolina and Georgia. This recipe is easy and fun, and can easily be adapted to feed as many people as are in attendance. It can be cooked outside on a gas burner for party settings, but this particular recipe is to be cooked inside on the stovetop and serves between two and four people.


Instructions


1. Bring water to boil in a large pot on the stovetop. Add crab boil seasoning according to personal taste. Start with two teaspoons per quart of water. If not spicy enough in the end, the seasoning can be sprinkled on top of the finished food.


2. Add the sweet corn cobblets and small red potatoes to the boiling water.


3. Add the smoked sausages after about ten minutes, and cook for an additional ten minutes.


4. Remove the sweet corn cobblets, red potatoes and smoked sausages. Place in container that will keep them warm.


5. Boil snow crab claws for about four minutes. Then place in a container that will keep warm, such as a tin foil container.


6. Add the thawed and unpeeled shrimp. Cook for about one minute. Stir the shrimp constantly for even cooking. Do not overcook shrimp because they will get rubbery. Shrimp is done when it is pink and begins to float.


7. Remove the shrimp. Add the shrimp to the corn, potatoes, crab and sausage.
