Make granola bars at home.

Granola bars are a great treat to add to lunch boxes or to snack on at home. You can flavor homemade granola bars to your taste instead of buying the expensive ones at the store. For instance, substitute 1/4 cup of peanut butter for the honey; for raisin cinnamon granola bars, add 1 tsp. cinnamon and substitute 1/4 cup raisins for the coconut. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Mix together the oats, coconut, crisp rice cereal, and chocolate chips.

2. In another bowl, mix the salt, vanilla, butter, honey and brown sugar until everything is evenly blended.

3. Pour the dry mix into the wet mix and blend together. This mix is stiff so you may need to use your hands.

4. Press this granola bar mix into an 8x8 inch square pan.

5. Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes.

6. Remove from oven; wait for the granola bars to set before you cut them into bars.
