Cook Calamari Tentacles

Small calamari are more tender than larger ones.

Once an exotic dish only available in specialty restaurants, calamari or squid tentacles are now readily available in the frozen-food sections of many grocery stores. Grilling marinated calamari briefly over hot coals results in tender, flavorful tentacles that can be served over spicy pasta or vegetable dishes or in salads. Some cooks prefer to slice calamari tentacles when serving them to children to disguise the nature of the dish, but many children delight in eating tentacles, turning a family meal into an adventure.

Instructions

1. Place the tentacles in a bowl.

2. Combine olive oil, lemon juice and garlic in a small bowl and pour over the tentacles.

3. Pour the mixture over the tentacles and stir to coat them.

4. Place the bowl of tentacles in the refrigerator for one hour.

5. Grill over hot coals for no more than one minute on each side or until the tips curl slightly. Brush with marinade before turning, if desired.
