Marinating is an easy way to tenderize and add flavor to meat.
Marinade is useful as it adds flavor to meat while tenderizing it, making it easier to chew and more enjoyable to eat. Marinade can be made to suit a variety of different palettes, ranging from sweet and tangy to hot and spicy. Honey soy marinade is a unique Asian-inspired mixture that is both sweet, because of the honey, and savory because of the garlic and rich Chinese spice blend. Chicken or steak marinated in this mixture is ideal for grilling on the barbecue.
Instructions
1. Put the dry ingredients--the garlic glove and the spice powder--into a bowl and mix them together.
2. Add the wet ingredients--the honey, soy sauce and sake--to the bowl and mix until honey is dissolved and everything is well incorporated.
3. Taste the marinade to make sure it fits your personal taste. Add more honey if you want it a bit sweeter or add more of the spice powder for a bolder taste.
4. Pour the marinade over 1 pound of thawed chicken or steak--in either a large freezer bag or casserole dish covered with plastic wrap--and let sit in the fridge for at least 4 hours before cooking.
