Season A Popcorn Machine

Seasoning the popcorn machine makes the popcorn taste better.

Popcorn machines are common in movie theater concession stands around the country. They are also available for purchase in the home and come in a variety of styles and designs. There are machines similar to the movie theater's, which pop the popcorn automatically and there are manual machines placed on the stove and turn a handle constantly to keep the kernels from sticking. Most popcorn machines have a stainless steel popper, which needs seasoning before the popper can make great-tasting popcorn.

Instructions

1. Wash the popper. When seasoning the popcorn machine, clean it to remove any dust or dirt. Dry the popper with a towel.

2. Pour some oil into the popcorn machine. The type of oil differs by personal preferences or the type of oil suggested for use in the popper. The manual poppers can even use butter. If using butter, melt the butter before putting it into the popcorn machine.

3. Spread the oil around the entire inside of the popper with a paper towel. Cover the entire inside. Allow the oil to sit for at least one hour.

4. Wipe out the oil with a clean paper towel. Use as many paper towels as necessary to remove the oil.

5. Add oil according to the popper instructions and then add popcorn. Pop one batch of popcorn according to the machine's instructions. Discard the first batch of popcorn. The popcorn machine is seasoned and ready for use.
