Campfire Tools Used For Roasting

S'mores are the most famous campfire food.

Nothing quite compares to the joy of roasting food over an open campfire with friends. Many foods have potential for roasting over an open flame. Hot dogs, marshmallows and popcorn are just a few. Each different food requires a different utensil. Fortunately, several tools on the market enable all kinds of open fire roasting.

Roasting Fork

This is a reverse-tipped fork attached to a long pole to ensure safe distance between you and the fire. The reverse-tipped fork securely holds hot dogs and/or marshmallows in place as you roast them over the fire.

Kabob Grilling Basket

This piece of equipment is shaped like a combination of a frying pan and metal basket. It has four horizontal metal prongs that allow you to place meat and vegetables on to make some tasty kabobs. Once they finish cooking, you can remove the horizontal prongs from the basket and eat your kabobs fresh off the flame.

Roasting Fork

This is your standard piece of campfire roasting equipment. It is similar to the reverse-pronged fork, just without the reverse prongs. It is essentially a long fork that is capable of roasting marshmallows, hot dogs, or sausages. This long piece of equipment keeps you a safe distance from the flames as you roast.

Pie Iron

This roasts your treats right in the middle of the fire. This is a cast iron that you place in the coals or in the pit of your campfire. You can toast sandwiches, hot dogs, marshmallows or anything else you can think up. These come with wood handles that do not over heat, allowing for easy removal.
