Cook With Bloody Mary Mix

The easiest way to make the alcoholic drink known as a "Bloody Mary" is to buy a bottle of the mix and combine it with vodka. It can also be made without the vodka, if you choose. The drink has a red appearance because it's mainly tomato juice. Bloody Mary mixes vary. Typically they consist of ingredients such as tomato juice, citrus juices, a sweetener, vinegar, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings like garlic powder, black and cayenne peppers. The original Bloody Mary drink was invented by bartender Fernand Petiot in the 1920s, according to the Cocktail Times.

2. Mix the boiling liquid with the gelatin powder and stir well. Add 7 ounces of Bloody Mary mix and blend it together.

3. Pour the mixture into four gelatin molds that are 1/2-cup. Refrigerate them until they set up.

4. Serve each mold on a lettuce leaf with a small spoon of mayonnaise and a pickled asparagus spear.

5. Brown the ground chuck in a Dutch oven along with the onions and green peppers. Drain the grease off.

6. Add the pinto beans, tomatoes, crushed garlic, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper, and half of a bottle of Bloody Mary mix to the Dutch oven.

7. Cook the chili over low heat on a stove-top for an hour; stir occasionally. As the chili cooks, add more Bloody Mary mix to make the consistency as you like it.
