Salads To Go With Main Meals

Green salads can be customized to complement any meal.


Salads are a common side dish in restaurants and homes. Lettuce and spinach are the perfect base for green salads and can be topped with other vegetables and fruits to provide variety and high nutritional value. Most grocery stores carry packages of prewashed greens that allow you to make a salad in only a few minutes.


Caesar Salad


Mix pieces of romaine lettuce with Caesar salad dressing and top with crumbled bacon, grated Parmesan cheese and garlic croutons.


Greek Salad


Coat mixed greens with Greek dressing and top with chopped tomato and cucumber, feta cheese, sliced black olives and salt and pepper croutons.


Raspberry Spinach Salad


Mix baby spinach leaves with raspberry vinaigrette and top with fresh raspberries, sliced red onion and toasted almond slivers.


Waldorf Salad


Mix together 3 tbsp. of plain yogurt and 1 tbsp. of lemon juice. Use the mixture to coat a bowl of chopped apples, red grapes, raisins, celery and toasted walnuts. Place the mixture on a bed of crisp iceberg lettuce to serve.


Green Salad With Goat Cheese and Pecans


Drizzle mixed greens with honey mustard dressing and top with crumbled goat cheese, toasted pecans, chopped red bell pepper and dried cranberries.


Tomato Salad With Garlic


Layer beds of iceberg lettuce with a variety of chopped tomatoes, freshly snipped basil, and toasted pumpkin and sunflower seeds. Drizzle with garlic vinaigrette before serving.


Pear and Roquefort Cheese Salad


Top mixed greens with slices of pear, avocado, green onions, crumbled Roquefort cheese and toasted pecans. Drizzle with honey mustard vinaigrette before serving.


Strawberry Spinach Salad


Toss baby spinach leaves with creamy poppy seed dressing. Top with sliced strawberries and green onions and toasted slivered almonds.


Asian Salad


Toss mixed greens with Asian sesame dressing. Top with snow peas, grated carrot, dried cherries and crunchy noodles.


Pomegranate Spinach Salad


Top spinach leaves with drained mandarin slices, pomegranate seeds and thin slices of red onion.


Garden Salad


Combine mixed greens with chopped bell peppers, shredded carrot, broccoli and cauliflower florets, and grated cheddar cheese. Top with your choice of croutons and salad dressing.
