Make Triple Homecoming Mums

Homecoming mum corsages are large, extravagant adornments that are worn for the homecoming team to show spirit for your high school or college sports team. The process of making a triple homecoming mum corsage doesn't differ much from making a standard mum corsage. Using more materials and expressing your creativity, you can make a triple homecoming mum corsage with ease to wear at your next homecoming event. You can also make the corsage and give it as a gift.

Instructions

1. Select three large-blossomed artificial flowers and snip the stems from them. Leave only about an inch of stem on each blossom. Ideal flower choices for homecoming mums are chrysanthemums, magnolias, sunflowers and large daisies. Choose colors that are suitable for your homecoming team. The blossoms will come together in a triangular formation with some of the petals overlapping.

2. Gather the three flowers and wrap their shortened stems with florist's tape. This secures them together.

3. Snip a 20-inch length of ribbon from each roll. Gather the ribbon lengths together and tie them into a simple bow around the shortened, wrapped stem of the mum corsage. This creates a dangling, wispy effect with the tendrils of different colors.

4. Select a small stuffed animal measuring about 5 inches tall. An animal that represents the team's mascot is suitable. Apply a nickel-size dot of hot glue on the back center of the stuffed animal and then one on the back of its head.

5. Apply the glued side of the stuffed animal over the center of the three bundled flowers. This will overlap the top flower and the inner parts of the left and right flowers, but it will serve as a traditional accent to a large homecoming mum. Let it dry for 15 minutes.

6. Flip the triple homecoming mum corsage over, with the stuffed animal side facing down. Squeeze a dot of glue on the left far side of the mums, and then another one on the far right side. This means one end of the rope will be at the far left side of one of the side flowers, with the other end on the far right side of the flower on the other side.

7. Snip a 20-inch length of silk rope from the roll. Press each free end firmly against each glued end of the corsage. Let it dry for 10 minutes. This is draped over your neck, as the corsage is far too heavy to wear as a wristlet.
