Make A Chili Dog

Make a Chili Dog

A chili dog is a hot dog topped with hot chili. Most chili dogs contain chili without the beans. Chili dogs are simple enough to make in about 20 minutes, but beefy enough to serve as an appetizing meal.

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. If you need to thaw your hot dogs, do this while your oven is heating. Thaw the dogs by submerging them in lukewarm water until softened. Your hot dogs should be thawed before you bake them.

2. Place the hot dogs on the baking sheet. Make sure there is about 1 inch of space between each hot dog. If you do not have a baking sheet, cook your hot dogs on the oven's grill rack, placing them diagonally so they do not fall through. Let them cook for about 10 minutes. The hot dogs will swell to indicate they are done. If you are cooking them on the rack, the hot dogs will have grill marks on them.

3. Remove the hot dogs from the oven. Put one hot dog into each hot dog bun, and place the hot dogs on the serving plate.

4. Pour the Hormel hot dog chili into the small pot, put the pot on the burner, and warm it on low heat.

5. Add the onions, cheese and mustard to the mixing bowl and stir the mixture while the chili is cooking.

6. Add the mix to the chili, and stir it all together. Remove the chili from the heat.

7. Add about 1/4 cup of chili mix to each hot dog, and serve.
