Make A Fresh Fruit Smoothie

Fresh fruit smoothies are a delicious way to get the daily allowance of vitamins and minerals. Not only are smoothies nutritious, but they can also be a very low calorie drink, depending on the ingredients. Smoothies are also an excellent way to get children to enjoy fruit everyday.

Instructions

1. Choose the type of fruit you want to use in your smoothie. If more than one fruit is being used, choose complimentary tastes for delicious results.

2. Decide on the type of juice to use. Generally, white grape juice, orange juice or pineapple juice is a good choice.

3. Place fruit in the blender. If your fruit is large, cut it into 1" chunks. If your fruit is too large, it will not blend well.

4. Add juice and yogurt. Place the lid securely on the smoothie maker. Blend on high speed for 25 seconds.

5. Turn the machine off. Carefully remove the lid and check the status of ingredients. Use a spoon to stir ingredients. Check under the blades for stuck pieces of fruit.

6. Place the lid back on the smoothie maker. Mix for a few more seconds. Add ice cubes slowly to the mixture, blending between each few cubes. Mix to desired consistency. Make the smoothie thinner by adding more liquid. Thicken the smoothie by adding more ice or fruit.

7. Enhance the flavor of the smoothie by adding small amounts of honey, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg or maple syrup.
