Melt Nacho Cheese

Nachos make fast and delicious snacks and appetizers.


Creamy and zesty nacho cheese dip makes a simple and tasty party appetizer or snack. Nacho cheese dip is versatile in that it can be made on the stove top or in a microwave, depending on the amount of time you have. Nacho dip is traditionally served with tortilla chips, but also can be accompanied by cubed bread or raw vegetables, such as carrot and celery sticks. You also can use the nacho cheese to enhance dinner recipes. Make the cheese dip with or without meat according to your preferences.


Instructions


1. Place a green pepper on a cutting board and chop 2 tbsp. worth using a sharp knife. Peel 1 red, yellow or white onion, and chop 2 tbsp. worth.


2. Cut 1 lb. of processed American cheese into small cubes.


3. Place 1/4-lb. bulk, spicy pork or Mexican-style sausage, along with the chopped green pepper and onion, into a microwave-safe container. Cook the mixture on high for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the sausage is fully cooked. Drain the cooked sausage mixture.


4. Add the cubed cheese and 3/4 cup of any type of tomato salsa to the sausage mixture. Cover the bowl with a lid, and microwave the mixture on high for 1 to 2 minutes. Stir the mixture frequently throughout the cooking process to create a smooth dip.


5. Serve the nacho cheese dip with tortilla chips, cubed bread or cut-up vegetables.
