Make Coconut Shrimp

Coconut shrimp is a delectable treat that you can enjoy as a crispy appetizer, but you should limit the times that you allow yourself to indulge. There are some variations in coconut shrimp recipes, but the following steps are common for the fried version. You can serve these alone or with your favorite dipping sauce.

Instructions

1. Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper. Set the tray aside to use after you prepare the shrimp for frying.

2. Mix the egg, beer, 1/2 cup of the flour and baking powder in a bowl. Place the remaining flour and the coconut flakes into their own bowls.

3. Dip each of the shrimp in the plain flour. Shake off the excess and dunk the shrimp into the batter mixture. Coat each shrimp with the coconut flakes.

4. Place each coated shrimp onto the lined cookie sheet. Refrigerate them for 30 minutes.

5. Heat the oil in a deep fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Immerse each shrimp into the heated oil and fry it for one minute on each side.

6. Take the shrimp out of the deep fryer and put them on a paper towel. Serve the coconut shrimp after the oil drains.
