Make Venison Jerky

Venison jerky is a delicious food for meal or snack any time of the year. If you have some venison in your freezer that you need to know what to do with, follow the simple steps below to make a venison jerky for your family.

Instructions

1. Buy or make sure you have on hand salt, sugar, cinnamon, five-spice powder, soy sauce red wine and three pounds of venison. This is all you need to make your venison jerky.

2. Combine two teaspoons of table salt, five tablespoons of sugar and 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon in medium sized bowl. Add 1/4 teaspoon of five-spice powder, two tablespoons of soy sauce and two tablespoons of red wine to the dry mixture. Refrigerate uncovered while you do the next step.

3. Cut three pounds of venison into three-inch strips with a sharp knife. You can decide their thickness based on your preference for the thickness of the jerky you want to make.

4. Remove the marinade mixture from the fridge. Carefully add the venison strips for the jerky. Make sure the strips are completely covered. Use plastic wrap to cover the container and refrigerate in covered container for 24 hours.

5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place the venison strips in one layer on a cookie sheet. Bake the venison on the cookie sheet for about seven minutes. Remove the cookie sheet from oven and turn the venison strips over. Bake another seven minutes, or until browned to your liking. Cooking time may be longer if you prefer thicker jerky strips.

6. Enjoy your homemade venison jerky.
