Make Bread With A Food Processor

If you're lucky enough to have a kitchen equipped with a food processor, you've probably discovered many of the creative and time saving ways to use this piece of equipment. However, if you haven't yet tried to make bread in your food processor, give it a shot. You're in for a treat.

Instructions

1. Make only one loaf of bread at a time, using a recipe that doesn't call for more than 4 cups of flour. If you want to make additional loaves of bread, make separate batches.

2. Combine instant dry yeast with the flour and other dry ingredients.

3. Mix the wet ingredients as directed in the recipe, but chill them thoroughly in the refrigerator or freezer before you proceed. This will prevent the dough from heating too much and killing the yeast during processing.

4. Place the dry ingredients in the food processor. Turn the food processor on low speed, and add the chilled liquid ingredients slowly. Once the mixture turns into a dough, turn off the food processor and allow the dough to sit for about 10 minutes.

5. Add a bit more flour if the dough is too sticky, or pour in a small amount of water if it's too thick.

6. Turn the food processor back on and blend the dough for a few more seconds. Process the dough in 5 second increments until it forms a smooth dough, but don't allow the dough to overheat and kill the yeast.

7. Remove the dough from the food processor and proceed rising or kneading the bread as directed in the recipe.
