Make Batter For Sweet & Sour Chicken

When looking for a delicious chicken dish with Asian flavor, look no further than Sweet & Sour Chicken. The batter is easy to make and starts out with only three simple ingredients. Personalize the flavor by including different spices and herbs to the mix or adding various vegetables and fruits to the final meal.

Instructions

1. Crack the egg into a small bowl and beat well. Combine the dry biscuit mix and water in a bowl and stir thoroughly. Add the beaten egg to the biscuit dough and mix well.

2. Cut the chicken into small, bite-sized pieces. Consider who will be eating the meal. For adults only, cut the chicken to about 2 inches in size. However, if children will be eating, cut the chicken into much smaller pieces.

3. Heat the cooking oil in a wok or large skillet at medium temperature on the stovetop.

4. Dip the chicken pieces into the batter to cover. Use a large slotted spoon to remove the chicken from the batter to prevent excess dripping.

5. Place several pieces of chicken into the hot oil and fry for about two minutes or until golden brown. Do not crowd the chicken in the pan; allow space around each piece so that it will cook evenly. Remove the chicken from the wok.

6. Slice the green pepper, onion and carrots into thin slivers and place them in the wok. Sauté for five minutes or until the vegetables are soft, then add the chicken. Drain the pineapple and pour the fruit into the wok with the vegetables. Pour a bottle of sweet and sour sauce over the chicken and stir well. Serve the chicken over white rice or pasta.
