Jalapeños create a unique jelly that can be used in multiple ways.
Jalapeño jelly utilizes actual peppers to create a jelly mixture. Blending a mixture of naturally sweet and spicy flavor, jalapeño jelly can be used in a variety of dishes and sauces. Although the use of jalapeño jelly is limitless to a cook, there are several common uses of the jelly in food cooking and preparation.
Spread
Jalapeño jelly can be used as an appetizer or a light snack. Much like common jelly flavors, jalapeño can be spread on a variety of breads such as crackers, muffins, bagels, biscuits and toast. The spicy jelly can also be topped with slices of meat such as ham, turkey or pork. Cheeses such as brie, Edam or mozzarella can also be placed on top of the jalapeño jelly to provide a tasty snack.
Marinade or Glaze
Jalapeño jelly can also be used to marinate or glaze meat, poultry or fish. Marination is the process of soaking food in a seasoned liquid or combination of spices several hours before cooking. Jalapeño jelly can be added to a marinade to provide a spicy taste to food. Glazing is the process of coating a glossy substance over food. With jalapeño jelly, a spicy glaze can be added after meat, poultry or fish has been thoroughly cooked.
Sauce
Jalapeño jelly can be served during meals as a dipping sauce. Foods that are easily held such as tortilla chips, cut raw vegetables, crackers and toasted bread are easily dipped into jalapeño jelly. Meats such as chicken wings, ribs or nuggets will also be enhanced with a side of jalapeño jelly.
Other Uses
Additional uses of jalapeño jelly are limited only to a person's imagination. Experiment using the jelly in a variety of different dishes. According to Texas Pepper Jelly, people even enjoy jalapeño as cake icing or in a favorite ice cream. When all other options have been exhausted, simply eat the jalapeño jelly out of the jar with a spoon.
