Make Macaroni Pasta Salad

Tweak this tuna pasta salad to make it your own.

Macaroni pasta salad is a delicious cold dish, perfect for summer. This version is loaded with protein from the tuna and, if you use whole-wheat macaroni, brings in healthy whole grains, too. This recipe is inexpensive and easy to make. Plan it as a side for a cookout or as a potluck item for a party.

Instructions

1. Cook the whole grain macaroni pasta in boiling water until it is almost cooked through. Leave it a little underdone because it will cook a bit more as it cools.

2. Strain the pasta and cool it completely. Drizzle a little olive oil over the noodles to keep them from sticking together.

3. Combine the macaroni, mayonnaise, sweet relish, diced celery, chopped green onion, diced red bell pepper and apple cider vinegar.

4. Strain the water out of the tuna and break it up with a fork. Add the tuna to the macaroni salad and combine it well. Season the salad to taste and serve.
