Make Easy Apple Pie Filling

Every baker should have an easy apple pie filling recipe in their repetoire. This one uses brown sugar to give this apple pie filling a sweet, caramel-like flavor. It is easy to make and always turns out great. The most time-consuming task is peeling the apples. After that, it is as easy as--apple pie!

Instructions

1. Peel and slice the apples (thinly). Set them aside.

2. Add ¾ cup of sugar to 1 cup of water and cook it until it boils.

3. Add the apples and simmer the mixture until the slices of apple are tender. The simmer time will vary depending on the variety of apples you use, but 15 minutes is about average.

4. Scoop out the apples with a slotted spoon and set them aside.

5. Mix the remaining ¾ cup of sugar with the flour and salt. Then slowly add this dry mixture to the hot brown sugar and water mixture. Cook and stir until it thickens. Remove it from the heat.

6. Stir in the butter, vanilla and cooked apples.
