Easy-to-prepare party food helps the host spend more time with the guests and less time in the kitchen.

Sometimes the hardest part of giving a party is deciding what foods to serve. It is easy to run out of ideas on what to make. Creating party foods does not have to be a difficult and involved task. Many tasty recipes call for basic steps and basic ingredients. Though simplistic in making, each is big on taste and sure to please party guests of all ages.

Sausage Cheese Dip

Cheese dips can be as mild or spicy as you'd like.

If you want to add a bit of spiciness to the table, make some sausage cheese dip. The recipe is simple and is sure to be a flavorful hit at the party. A crock pot and a frying pan and that is all the cookware required. Once melted, turn the pot on low and set it on the table for everyone to enjoy with corn or tortilla chips. Just add a pound of your favorite breakfast sausage (cooked) to the crock pot along with a 2-pound block of processed cheese, and a 6-ounce can of diced tomatoes and a can of cheese soup. You can use spicy diced tomatoes or nacho cheese soup instead of plain to add more spice. If you really want to add some flavor, add a half-cup of pickled or fresh jalapeno peppers. Once everything is together in the crock-pot, stir it occasionally while it all melts together.

Pigs In The Blanket

Use miniature sausages or cut bigger ones into small pieces.

If you are looking for a quick and easy party food that will delight kids and adults alike, fix some classic pigs in the blanket. They are so easy to make the kids can help you. You only need a can of refrigerated biscuits and a pack of miniature, smoked sausages. If you do not like smoked sausage, use miniature hotdogs instead. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and spray a large cookie sheet with vegetable oil. The biggest step is cutting the biscuits in half and pressing them out flat with your hands. Roll a sausage up in the biscuits and place them on the cookie sheet. Brown the biscuits in the oven and they are ready to eat. You can serve them with mustard, ketchup or any condiment you like. One 10-count can of biscuits makes 20 pigs in the blankets.

Sub Slices

You can make a variety of subs to please everyone.

Adding a plate of sub sandwich slices to the table is sure to satisfy everyone at the party. They are easy to make and you can use any combination of meats, cheeses and condiments to suit your taste. Simply slice open two or three submarine buns and load them up with your favorite ingredients. You could make one sub out of ham and Swiss, and another using turkey and cheddar. Add toppings such as lettuce, onions, oil and vinegar, or peppers and they are ready for slicing. Slice the subs into 1 1/2- to 2-inch slices and serve on a large plate. It will not be long before the plate is empty. This should create anywhere from 12 to 20 slices, depending on the size of the rolls.
