Baked Cheese Spread

Make an appetizer dip with freshly grated cheese.

Rich and creamy baked cheese spread makes an ideal party appetizer. The hearty cheese spread will satisfy guests without ruining their appetites for dinner. The spread is simple to make but will taste like you spent a lot of time in the kitchen. You can use several types of cheese, such as cheddar, Colby or Monterey Jack, depending on your preferences. Blend the cheese with a few complementing ingredients and bake the spread until it is smooth and melted.

Instructions

1. Place 2 cups of mayonnaise, 2 cups of freshly grated or packaged shredded cheese, 2 cups of chopped onion and 1 tsp. of Worcestershire sauce in a mixing bowl. Substitute the Worcestershire sauce for 1 tsp. of hot pepper sauce if you prefer a spicy flavor.

2. Stir the cheese mixture using a large spoon until all of the ingredients are combined.

3. Transfer the cheese spread into a baking dish or aluminum pie plate.

4. Bake the spread uncovered in an oven preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the sides are bubbling. Remove the spread from the oven and serve it with any type of crackers, mini toasts or bread sticks.
