Make Pita And Zattar Chips

Zattar and Pita Chips


Pita bread has been a staple Middle Eastern food for years, but here is a new twist on serve it. These easy-to-make pita and zattar chips are a beautiful and healthy alternative to greasy dipping chips. Zattar is a traditional Middle Eastern mixed spice. Although there are different variations, zattar always includes sesame seeds, sumac, salt and thyme. Sprinkled on top of warm pita chips and served alone, or with a dip such as hummus, this recipe is definitely a crowd pleaser. Serves six.


Instructions


1. Cover the top rack in the oven with aluminum foil, and preheat your oven to 375 degrees.


2. Using a pizza cutter, cut each piece of pita bread into eight triangles.


3. Lightly cover the tops of each pita triangle with olive oil. Using a kitchen brush is recommended for this endeavor.


4. Sprinkle the top of each pita triangle with a little zattar spice.


5. Spread the chips out in the oven on top of the foil-covered rack. Allow them to bake for 5 to 7 minutes or until crispy.


6. Serve zattar pita chips warm and fresh.
