Frozen margaritas make the perfect summer drink to accompany a party, evening at home or a barbecue. While ordering frozen margaritas at a bar can be expensive, making them at home is easy and much more affordable. Margarita mixes are available, but the end quality of the drink is nowhere near as good as made a made from scratch margarita at home.
Instructions
1. Put approximately 2 1/2 cups of ice into your blender to make a 36 ounce pitcher of frozen margaritas. Most margarita glasses hold around 12 ounces, so this will make about 3 drinks. Adjust quantities if needed.
2. Pour 4 ounces of tequila into your blender. Add to this 2 ounces of Cointreau or Triple Sec. Good quality tequila makes a significant difference in your frozen margaritas.
3. Add 1//4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice to the blender, along with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Bottled juices will also work in your frozen margaritas from scratch. Add 3 tablespoons of sugar and blend. If needed, add up to 1/3 cup of water to help blend the margaritas.
4. Pour margarita salt into a shallow pan. Dip the rim of each glass into water and then into the salt. If you cannot find margarita salt, kosher or sea salt will also work well.
5. Fill each margarita glass with your frozen margaritas from scratch. Add a lime wedge or slice to each to garnish.
