Slow Cook Brown Rice & Chicken

Brown rice contains fiber, calcium and protein. The addition of lean chicken makes the meal suitable for a balanced diet. Cooking brown rice and chicken in the crock-pot allows you to make a quick and easy meal during a busy day. After adding the necessary ingredients to the crock-pot, the dish does not require any further preparation. Customize the dish by adding your favorite ingredients and serve it with a side of bread or salad to completed the meal.


Instructions


1. Prepare the rice by following the directions on the package. Line the bottom of the crock-pot with 2 cups of the cooked brown rice.


2. Add 1 1/2 cups of diced cooked chicken over the brown rice. Top the chicken with two stalks of chopped celery and 1/2 cup chopped onion.


3. Pour 1/4 cup of dry white wine and 2 cups of chicken broth over all the ingredients. Turn the crock-pot to the lowest setting. Cook the chicken and brown rice for six to eight hours.


4. Turn off the crock-pot or turn it to the keep warm setting if you are not quite ready to serve the dish. Pour the chicken, brown rice and other ingredients into a casserole dish. Serve the dish while it remains hot.
