Freeze Stuffed Mushrooms

Pre-made stuffed mushrooms can make a elegant party platter.

Complex dishes to prepare, like stuffed mushrooms, take up valuable time in a day. Some people like to have some quick appetizers on hand for unexpected guests that show up or to make a special dinner in a hurry. Stuffed mushrooms can be stored in the freezer, but need to be taken care of in a specific manner to ensure they are just as good as when they were made that day. It is best to freeze the mushrooms when there is more space in the freezer, before you make a major grocery errand is a good time.

Instructions

1. Prepare your favorite stuffed mushroom recipe as normal except do not cook them. Cookbooks and the internet are great sources for finding new recipes to try.

2. Arrange the freezer to have enough space for the small baking pan. The pan will need to lay as flat as possible to prevent the mushrooms from rolling off during the process.

3. Line the baking pan with a piece of parchment paper. This will make it easier to remove the mushrooms once they are finished freezing.

4. Place the stuffed mushrooms on the lined baking sheet with about an inch apart from each other, open stuffed end facing upward.

5. Put the filled pan in the freezer for about two to three hours. The mushrooms should be frozen solid.

6. Remove the frozen mushrooms from the pan and place into a plastic freezer bag for long term storage. Expel as much air as you can from the bag before placing back into the freezer.

7. Cook the desired amount of stuffed mushrooms while they are frozen. Cooking time may be one and half times that of the original recipe. Ensure an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit prior to serving.
