Tennessee Wine Clubs

There are numerous wine clubs in Tennessee. Some are affliated with a winery and others are tasting groups, not run by any winery, who sample wines from around the globe. There are mail-order wine clubs that send members wines monthly and wine clubs whose members meet monthly to taste wine and have a dinner that is paired with the wine being served.

Old Medina Wine Club

Old Medina Wine Club in Jackson, Tennessee is associated with the Old Medina Winery, formerly known as Lauderdale Cellars. The annual membership fee is $50 per person or $75 per couple. People can sign up in person at the winery. Membership provides members a 10 percent discount on purchases at Old Medina, a red Old Medina Wine Club polo shirt, a subscription to the club's monthly newsletter and pre-entry to the winery and local wine festivals.

Additionally, members can participate in the monthly dinners where club members bring food to share whilst they sample wines from around the world. The cost of the wine consumed at dinner will be shared by the members present. The wine club also reads a wine book that they break down according to the book topics and try the wines from that month's particular book section. Each month for a year will have a different book section.

The society hosts a monthly wine tasting with a carefully matched dinner. In addition, there are nine to 11 tastings per year. Tasting format varies per type of wine. For example, everday wines are served at informal tastings with hors d'oeuvers, whilst formal educational tastings are in a more controlled setting with commentary aimed at beginning, intermediate and advanced tasters. Occasionally, the Society holds special tastings of some of the world's best wines with special foods often prepared by the chef of the restaurant hosting the event.
