Make Reducedfat Pancakes

If you enjoy pancakes but don't want all the fat that comes with them, despair no more. There are a few things you can do to lower the fat content and still have a batch of yummy-tasting pancakes.

Instructions

1. Crack 4 eggs and separate only the yolks into a mixing bowl. 2 large eggs equal about 10 grams of fat and that fat is all in the yolk. 2 full eggs with yolks and whites can be replaced with 4 egg whites, and in doing so will remove 10 grams of fat from the total mixture.

2. Pour a cup of fat-free milk into the mixing bowl or, if you prefer, use a half cup of 2 percent milk and a half cup of skim milk. A cup of whole milk is 8 grams of fat whereas 2 percent milk is 5 grams and fat-free milk is zero. You can remove 8 grams from the mixture by using fat-free milk or by 5.5 grams if using half fat-free milk and half 2 percent milk.

3. Measure 2 cups of Bisquick into the bowl. 2 cups of Bisquick equals 30 grams of fat. Stir well.

4. Use all-natural fat-free, butter-flavored cooking spray on your pan instead of butter. Butter has 3.8 grams of fat per teaspoon and almost 11-and-a-half grams per tablespoon. Oil has 13.6 grams per tablespoon. The cooking spray has zero fat grams.

5. Use "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" spray if you like extra butter on your pancakes when they are done. This butter spray has zero fat grams per serving.

6. Pour fat-free syrup on your pancakes. By using this recipe you have lowered the fat grams in your pancakes by at least half.
