Mix A Twoliquor Drink

Many cocktails, including martinis, use two types of liquor. Add in a little mixer for even more possibilities. After you've mixed your concoction, serve it neat and chilled, on the rocks, blended or frozen. Follow these steps to mix a two-liquor drink.

Instructions

1. Choose your liquors. You'll want to find two complimentary liquors such as a pineapple-flavored rum and an orange-flavored liqueur.

2. Pick a mixer. If you are making a mixed drink, choose a mixer that compliments the flavors of the liquors you have chosen. Some examples of mixers that go well with most liquor are tonic water, club soda and lemon-lime flavored soda.

3. Figure out the proportions. This is decided by whether you want certain flavors to dominate the drink or whether you want the flavors to balance. In the case of dominating flavors, mix two parts (one part equals one ounce) of the dominating liquor to one part of the other liquor. Mix equal parts if you want balanced flavors.

4. Shake it up before serving. This is best done by pouring your chosen liquors into a martini shaker filled with ice. Shake thoroughly and pour the liquor over ice or in a chilled glass. Fill the remainder of the glass with your chosen mixer.

5. If you don't have a martini shaker, stir it up. Pour your mixed drink into a glass with ice and stir it. Use a spoon, fork, straw or whatever you have on hand.

6. Add the liquors, mixer and ice to a blender and hit the "pulse" button a few times for a lightly blended drink. If you want a frozen concoction, add the liquors, mixer and crushed ice, then blend thoroughly.
