Make Bread Without Butter

People often need to substitute butter in baking goods. One reason is to avoid trans fatty acids. Others may be allergic to dairy products. Whatever your reason, there are many healthy fat substitutes you can use when baking.

Instructions

1. Substitute butter with applesauce. Some people like to add an additional 1/4 cup of applesauce for added moistness. You can use other fruit purees as well, such as mango, prune, pineapple, banana or pear.

2. Use extra virgin coconut oil instead of butter. It has a sweet, nutty flavor and is used it for its health benefits, like strengthening the immune system and protecting against infections.

3. Look for an extra virgin, cold-pressed olive oil to substitute for butter in your favorite recipes. Olive oil has medicinal properties affecting the heart, as well as cholesterol and sugar levels. Researchers report that olive oil helps protect cells in the colon's lining from carcinogens.

4. Consider using other types of oils, such as flaxseed, grape seed and almond oil (substitute measure for measure). All these oils have anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties.

5. Add ricotta cheese instead of butter. Substitute measure for measure.
