New Breakfast Ideas

Many people enjoy breakfast; however, the same breakfast every day gets old. Use common breakfast ingredients in new breakfast ideas and give the family something different from the same old thing all the time. Look at the different ideas to see if something is right for you.

Alternatives to Traditional

Many people consider breakfast the most important meal of the day. The same breakfast every day is boring. Liven it up by making breakfast grabbers. Scramble eggs and set aside. Scramble cooked sausage or crumble cooked bacon and set this aside. Grate a desirable amount of cheese. Open a can of buttermilk biscuits and press each one into a muffin tin. Place a spoonful each of egg, sausage and/or bacon and top with cheese. Bake in a 350-degree oven for approximately 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the edges of the biscuits are brown. Remove from the oven and allow the biscuits to cool slightly.

Make a breakfast casserole the night before. Layer the bottom of a casserole dish with slices of bread. Mix approximately one cup of cooked sausage or bacon, crumbled, with four eggs, one can of cream of mushroom soup, one cup of salsa, one half cup of milk and one half cup of grated cheese. Pour the mixture over the bread in the casserole dish and top with another half cup grated cheese. Place in the refrigerator until the next morning and bake 45 minutes to one hour at 350 degrees. Allow the casserole to cool slightly before slicing. Omit the salsa if you don't want a spicy casserole.

Healthier Choices

Mix all-natural fruit preserves with plain yogurt and top with a spoon of trail mix for a healthier alternative to breakfast meat and eggs. Fresh fruit works just as well.

Mix fruit cups with cottage cheese. Any type fruit cup is desirable. Use spoonfuls of cottage cheese to a preferable taste. Use either the juice and the fruit or just the fruit.

Spread cookie dough in a pizza pan and cook until browned in the oven. Top with different types of fresh fruit. Pour Strawberry glaze over the fruit and refrigerate overnight. Slice and go for a quick breakfast the next morning.

Other Ideas

Cook instant rice according to package directions and add butter and sugar to individual bowls of rice in desirable amounts for flavor. Alternatively, add honey or molasses.

Prepare Bisquick mix according to package directions. Add cooked crumbled sausage and grated cheese to the mix. Drop by spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet or into greased muffin tins and bake at 350 degrees until golden brown. Remove from the oven and add butter inside each muffin.
