Get Rid Of Chilli Thrips

Chilli thrips are tiny, slender insects with fringed wings that attack roses, vegetables, ornamental plants and feed on all vegetation. They have become a major problem in tropical areas of South Asia. In recent years, the pests have migrated into the Caribbean and north into Texas and Florida. They are very hard to see with the naked eye, but some of the signs are bronzing of fruit or vegetables and dropping leaves and buds. The earlier you get rid of chilli thrips, the better.

Instructions

1. Use garden shears to prune affected vegetation away from healthy plants. This should remove the thrips and their eggs. To prune the correct way, cut the canes at a 45-degree angle, 1/4 inch above an outward-facing bud. Prune down to healthy part of the plant.

2. Place infested plants in a plastic bag to contain the pests. Discard the bag in a trashcan.

3. Buy commercial pesticide at a fertilizer or hardware store. Mix pesticide according to the directions on the package. Put pesticide in spray bottle.

4. Use lawn/pesticide sprayer to spray chemicals all over the infected areas of vegetation. Respray on a regular basis to keep problem from recurring.
