Open A Can Without A Can Opener

Everyone knows open a can. Just use a can opener. They make electric and manual. But if you've ever been stuck in a sticky situation without a can opener, you can find yourself in quite a predicament. Here are some tips on open a can without a can opener so you can get to the tasty food inside.

Instructions

1. Use a nail and hammer to tap into the can. Now be sure to sterilize the nail with alcohol or a burning hot flame and make sure that the nail is not rusty. Remember you are only doing this in a desperate situation. (It's also a good idea to have a current tetanus shot.) Tap the bail using the hammer until the nail punches through. Then repeat this around the entire can until the lid comes off. If it's merely liquid inside, make one hole on each side of the can, the contents should then pour freely.

2. Saw through the can with a metal saw. Again, it's not pretty; but it will do in a pinch. Turn the can on its side and use a metal hacksaw to slice through the top of the can.

3. Drill into the can using a metal bit drill. This is a similar method to the nail and hammer, however it will go much quicker and you'll break less of a sweat. Again be sure to sterilize the drill bit.

4. Bust it open with a rock. If you are stuck without instruments, lay the can on a rock and pummel it with another rock. After many good whacks, you will create a hole large enough to get the food out.

5. Scrape the can with a rock. This is a variation on the pummel method. If you scrape the can with a sharp rock over and over again, eventually you will wear down the aluminum and get inside.
